A Matter Of Attitude

Standard

I have been in a foul mood for days.

If you’re a Seahawks fan who saw their last game against the Falcons then maybe you can understand. PMS and the NFL playoffs don’t mix well people.

If your house has ever been in a stage of seemingly endless repair, when in reality it’s been less than a week, then maybe you understand.

If you’re still finding a way to heal yourself after the killing of 26 people, then maybe you understand.

If you’ve just realized how long ago October was and wonder just what you’ve been doing since then, then maybe you can understand.

If you watched an interview with Captain Sullenberger on the anniversary of The Miracle On The Hudson and you realize you’re sitting in the exact same spot as you were when the news first broke, then maybe you understand.

If you’ve realized that it’s almost the anniversary of your grandfather’s death and you’ve thought over the last decade of your life, then maybe you understand.

If you’ve ever been told you’re required to attend a seminar in the name of professional development and you have anxiety attacks at the idea, then maybe you understand.

If your occasionally profane mouth is becoming more the norm than the exception and you’ve even began to surprise yourself, then maybe you understand.

If you’re still struggling with the simplest of technology and everyone else seems to be light years ahead of you, then maybe you understand.

If you’re trying to build something for yourself to be proud of and it’s taking longer than you’d like it to, then maybe you understand.

If you’ve had your mother come home and tell you your great (as in awesome, just as much as older) uncle died, then maybe you understand.

Things aren’t nearly as bad as I’m seeing them I’m sure.

My attitude needs an adjustment.

  1. I find that winter months are notorious for putting me in bad moods – because like you listed above, my focus seems to be on all that’s gone wrong or been bothering me. In moods like this, sometimes the only makes me feel a little better is the knowledge that winter – and my bad mood – won’t last forever.

  2. Your post reminds me of what my high school teacher told me one day, “It is the darkest, right before the light.”
